Meet Abigail Mae Simon... an obedient 17 year old elephant who wished more than anything else, to be a circus performer. She comes from a long line of celebrity circus actors and her parents were extrememly proud when she landed her first job with the prestigious Marcus & Mullany circus.

Meet Maria Rae Wheeler... a less obedient 16 year old elephant who has been Abigail's best friend for over 10 years. They met at elephant elementary school and always talked about joining the circus together. Abby and Maria tried out for the Marcus & Mullany job together and ended up being hired as a "performing duet."

Their 20 Year History
It was 1986 when the characters of Maria and Abigail first came to life. I was 10 years old, and my 3-year-old sister became very ill and was rushed to the hospital one afternoon. It was during her hospital stay that I used my best colored pencils and whatever paper was available at the time, to put a small book together for her to have as a welcome home present. I wasn't even certin she would be coming home, but thought if I wrote a good story and made the book really nice, she would just HAVE to come home...and she did. She was in bed for several days after her return from the hospital and I must have read this book to her 85 times. Most of the time, I didn't even know if she was listening because she seemed to always be sleeping and under the influence of medication. My 3-year-old sister is now 24, and an artist. She recently brought this little book to my attention and we've decided to collaborate and bring the story to life again- and you guessed it- she is using her artistic abilities to illustrate it! We've altered the story line just a bit, but most of the characters are the same. We will use our site to periodically introduce you to the characters in our story, and we hope that if something ails you, these little circus guys will heal you the way my sister feels they healed her.
